Worship Labs
An opportunity to experience a particular style, approach or stream of worship and then spend time reflecting on it
There will be three Worship Labs at this year's WorshipConnect:
Multigenerational Worship
"There is one body and one Spirit... one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of us all, who is over all and through all and in all." (Ephesians 4:4-5)
"You are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." (1 Corinthians 12:27)
Multi-generational worship - the body of Christ coming together to worship God as one body. How exciting!
Multi-generational worship - the body of Christ coming together to worship God with all their: differences, preferences, stages of faith, attitudes, attention spans, tolerance levels, music tastes, learning styles, disabilities, similarities, ideals and ages... How challenging!
Is it possible to lead worship bearing all this in mind?
Come along to explore this together...
(by the way - we at BIG Ministries think it is possible, and brilliant!)
"Why Lord?" - A worship service focussing on lament
After what some would call a rather triumphalistic phase in the worship scene, many are discovering a new interest in Lament. One recent book asks how we can lament in a church of praise, and indeed it isn’t always easy. Fortunately the Bible got there first, and there is a recognised liturgical form of Lament which takes us on a journey from despair to hope. It is this journey, and its expression through worship and music, which we will be exploring in this Lab.
Emerging Worship
The emerging church movement is an ongoing conversation between people who want to re-imagine how we approach and express our faith in a 21st century, post-modern context. It represents a wide variety of views but can be seen to have some uniting values, including the desire to imitate the life of Jesus; transform secular society; emphasise communal living; welcome outsiders; be generous and creative; and lead without control.
In the light of these conversations, churches all over the world are experimenting with new forms of worship – fresh expressions of engagement with God and community life. These question some of our deepest assumptions about how corporate worship should look, feel, sound, taste and smell. This evening will explore a variety of fresh worship forms, some growing directly out of the engageworship.org track.
