The Huron Carol
Traditional, arranged by Richard Hubbard
SATB Choir and Piano
Cat. No. 991
This haunting yet simple arrangement of the traditional Canadian Huron Carol evokes the atmosphere of the Canadian forests. Christ's birth is depicted using imagery that the Huron indians could relate to: "within a lodge of broken bark", "a ragged robe of rabbit skin enwrapped his beauty round".
The four verses are each given a different setting, including one a capella, and there is an extended ending. Although in four parts, this arrangement was written with non-music-readers in mind, and can be learnt very quickly by most choirs
